Our Methodology

Application Process

01

Moisture Check & Surface Audit

We use a digital moisture meter to check the wood or MDF substrate. It must read below 12% moisture before any coating is applied. Coating over wet substrate causes bubbling, delamination, and adhesion failure.

02

Dry Sanding & Surface Preparation

Orbital sanders with dust collection bags sand the substrate to the correct profile. Previous coatings, wax residues, and surface contamination are removed completely. Aliphatic PU bonds mechanically - preparation quality determines how long the finish lasts.

03

Polyurethane Isolator / Sealer Coat

A clear wood isolator coat is sprayed over the raw MDF surface before any white material is applied. This coat seals the substrate and blocks tannins, formaldehyde, and natural wood resins from bleeding upward into the white layers. Skip this and the white primer turns cream - not from UV, but from the board itself.

04

White PU Primer - 2 Coats with Inter-coat Sanding

High-fill white PU primer applied in two coats with fine abrasive sanding between them. Each sanding pass removes dust inclusions and grain raise, giving the topcoat a flat, flawless base. This is where the white base is established at the correct build level.

05

Final Aliphatic PU Topcoat - HVLP Spray, 2 Coats

The aliphatic PU resin is mixed with the non-yellowing hardener in the exact ratio required for site temperature and humidity. Sprayed in two coats using HVLP spray guns in a dust-shielded environment. The non-yellowing hardener is the critical ingredient - without it, even expensive material will yellow within two years.

06

48-Hour Curing + Compounding & Buffing

The topcoat undergoes chemical cross-linking for 48 hours. For Ultra High Gloss finishes, our team performs mechanical compounding and rotary buffing to achieve the mirror-flat surface. We do not hand over a job before the chemistry is complete.

The Real Problem

The Problem Every White Kitchen Owner in Indore Faces

A new white modular kitchen in Nipania or Vijay Nagar looks stunning the day it's installed. By month 18, the shutters near the chimney have turned a dull, pale yellow. The homeowner calls the contractor.

"Sahab, white paint toh peela padta hi hai."

That answer is not chemistry - it's an excuse. White paint does not yellow because it's white. It yellows because the wrong type of polyurethane was used. The diagnosis is a material failure, not a colour choice problem.

At Vishwas Homes, we have been polishing furniture and kitchens in Indore since 1980. We've applied non-yellowing aliphatic PU to hundreds of modular kitchens across Vijay Nagar, Palasia, Saket, and Nipania. The results speak for themselves - kitchens that remain crisp white years after handover, backed by a written warranty.

The Chemistry

What Is Non-Yellowing White PU Polish?

Non-yellowing white PU polish uses aliphatic polyurethane - a molecular structure with open-chain bonds that remain stable under UV radiation and heat. This is chemically different from aromatic polyurethane, which most local contractors use. Aromatic PU contains ring-shaped molecular structures that absorb UV energy and oxidise, producing the characteristic yellow colour shift.

Switch the chemistry from aromatic to aliphatic, and you remove the mechanism that causes yellowing entirely.

The two systems we use in Indore:

  • Sirca Non-Yellowing White PU Italian-grade aliphatic polyurethane; our primary specification for high-end modular kitchens
  • Asian Paints Royale PU Woodtech Sourced directly from our authorized dealership at Pipliyahana; used for mid-range kitchen and furniture projects

Both are aliphatic. Both resist UV. Both come with a traceable batch number from our own retail shop. When we say we're using non-yellowing PU on your job, we can show you the can, the hardener tin, and the dealer invoice.

Aromatic PU
Ring-shaped bonds → absorb UV → oxidise → turn yellow. Most local contractors use this.
vs.
Aliphatic PU
Open-chain bonds → UV-stable → no oxidation → stays white for 5–8 years. What Vishwas Homes uses.
Application Areas

Where Is Non-Yellowing White PU Best Used?

This finish earns its cost on five types of surfaces.

01

Modular Kitchen Shutters

The primary application. Shutters near the chimney and hob face grease vapour, turmeric steam, and radiant heat from cooking. These are the conditions where standard PU fails and aliphatic PU holds. This is the non-negotiable use case.

Non-negotiable
02

Kitchen Cabinet Carcasses

The internal frames around shutters also see steam and condensation. Matching the carcass finish to the shutter system ensures uniform colour stability throughout the entire kitchen.

03

Sun-Facing Main Doors

West and south-facing teak or MDF doors in Indore bungalows receive 4 to 6 hours of direct afternoon sun. Aliphatic PU holds colour through years of UV exposure. Aromatic PU begins yellowing within a single summer.

04

TV Unit White Panels

Units near windows receive UV. The difference in colour stability between aromatic and aliphatic becomes clearly visible on these surfaces within 18 months of application.

05

White Wardrobe Shutters

For a full white aesthetic in the bedroom, aliphatic PU delivers depth and longevity that Melamine polish cannot match. For wardrobes away from sunlight where budget matters, Melamine is a reasonable alternative - we'll tell you honestly which suits your situation.

Side-by-Side

Standard White Paint vs. Non-Yellowing Aliphatic PU

Factor Standard White Deco Paint Non-Yellowing Aliphatic PU
Colour Stability (5 Years) Yellows in 12–24 months Stable white for 5–8 years
UV Resistance Poor - aromatic bonds oxidise under sunlight Excellent - aliphatic bonds are UV-stable
Heat Resistance Softens near stove - absorbs oil and grease Stable to 90°C - grease wipes off
Turmeric & Oil Stain Resistance Bonds into softened surface permanently Hard surface - wipes clean if addressed promptly
Scratch Resistance Moderate - shows marks over time High - hard cross-linked polymer network
Cost in Indore Lower upfront (₹60–₹100/sq. ft.) ₹180–₹280/sq. ft. (Matte to Gloss)
Recommendation Low-traffic bedroom wardrobes, away from sunlight All kitchen shutters, sun-facing doors, and white furniture near windows

Verdict: Use standard white deco paint only for low-traffic bedroom wardrobes and interior units away from sunlight. Non-yellowing aliphatic PU is mandatory for all kitchen shutters, sun-facing main doors, and any white furniture near windows in Indore. Vishwas Homes applies both finishes with a written warranty.

Finish Options

Ultra High Gloss or Soft Matte - Your Choice

Both finishes use the same non-yellowing aliphatic chemistry. UV stability, heat resistance, and stain resistance are identical. The choice is purely aesthetic.

Ultra High Gloss

Mirror-like sheen. Maximum light reflection - makes smaller kitchens feel larger and brighter. The showroom finish that architects specify for high-end modular kitchens. Requires compounding and buffing post-cure.

  • Mirror-flat reflection
  • Brightens compact kitchen spaces
  • Premium showroom aesthetic
  • Popular for kitchen shutters and TV panels

Soft Matte / Satin

No fingerprint visibility. Contemporary and clean. Popular in open-plan kitchens and large modular systems where the look should be restrained rather than reflective. Lower maintenance than gloss.

  • Zero fingerprint visibility
  • Modern, minimal aesthetic
  • Easier day-to-day maintenance
  • Popular in large open-plan kitchens

Cost of Non-Yellowing White PU Polish in Indore

Indicative range ₹180 – ₹280 per sq. ft.

Cost varies based on four factors:

  • Finish level - Matte is at the lower end; Ultra High Gloss with compounding and buffing is at the higher end
  • Substrate condition - fresh MDF from a carpenter is faster to prepare than old painted laminate that needs stripping
  • Furniture profile complexity - flat slab shutters are faster to spray than shutters with raised panel profiles and grooves
  • New furniture vs. repainting - new furniture is always quicker; existing furniture with old coatings adds preparation time

Aftercare

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

  • Clean kitchen shutters weekly with a damp microfiber cloth. No polishing products or wax needed.
  • Use mild dishwashing liquid diluted in warm water for oil and grease marks.
  • Never use acidic cleaners, bleach, or chemical sprays - they degrade the polyurethane surface seal over time.
  • Wipe dry after cleaning. Prolonged water contact on cabinet edges can weaken the bonding adhesives in the MDF substrate beneath the finish.
  • Turmeric spills - 5-minute rule. Aliphatic PU is stain-resistant under normal conditions; however, very hot turmeric left in contact for extended periods can leave a faint shadow. Act within 5 minutes.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Can non-yellowing white PU be applied over existing laminate cabinets?
Yes, with correct preparation. The laminate surface must be mechanically sanded to create a bond profile, and an adhesion promoter primer applied before the aliphatic PU system. Our site supervisor assesses whether the existing laminate is stable enough during the free site visit. If it is delaminating or has moisture damage underneath, coating over it will not hold - we'll tell you that directly rather than take the job and deliver a result that fails in six months.
What is the cost of white PU polish per square foot in Indore?
Non-yellowing aliphatic white PU polish in Indore costs between ₹180 and ₹280 per sq. ft. The lower end applies to Matte finishes on fresh MDF. The higher end applies to Ultra High Gloss finishes requiring compounding and buffing, or to projects involving stripping existing coatings. The free site visit and quote are provided at no charge.
How do I verify my painter is using genuine non-yellowing PU - and not regular aromatic PU?
Ask to see the hardener tin specifically. Look for the words 'Aliphatic' or 'Non-Yellowing Hardener' on the label. Standard hardeners are aromatic and will yellow. When Vishwas Homes applies PU on your project, we provide a dealer-verified material manifest listing the Sirca or Asian Paints product codes, batch numbers, and the invoice from our Pipliyahana shop. You can verify these against the manufacturer's dealer database if you wish.
How long does non-yellowing white PU last on modular kitchen shutters?
5 to 8 years under normal kitchen use conditions. The lower end applies to high-intensity cooking with frequent cleaning. The higher end applies to lighter use. Our written warranty covers premature yellowing or adhesion failure for 2 to 5 years from the date of application.
Does non-yellowing white PU work on MDF furniture or only on solid wood?
MDF is the primary substrate for this finish - it is specifically designed for engineered board materials. The key is the isolator sealer coat applied in Step 3 of our process, which blocks MDF resins and tannins from bleeding into the white primer layers. On properly sealed MDF, aliphatic PU performs more uniformly than on solid wood because MDF has no natural grain variation or resin pockets.
